Storytelling and Public Speaking
Oral Communication is an important part of our Language programming. Our students are given experiences to enable them to communicate information, and express and clarify their thoughts, feelings and opinions.
Each year we have our Public Speaking competition. Our Grade 2 and 3 students learn how to be storytellers. They select a story to share, practice and then present to their classes. The top presenters are then selected to share at the gym level.
Students in Grade 4-8, research, write and give speeches. The top finishers at the gym level represent Braemar at the Legion Competition. Two students competed in the Intermediate Division and two competed in the Junior Division. One of our students finished in 2nd place and went on to the next level!
