OUR FACILITIES

Braemar House School is situated on a beautiful urban park space.  We own our own building and part of the land it sits on.  We have 10 well-light, spacious and welcoming classrooms.

We have a full-sized gym which we use not only for our Physical Education program, but for monthly Formal Assemblies and our school-wide Enhanced Learning Days.

We are also fortunate to have a theatrical stage as part of our gymnasium which we put to great use during our Art Show, Music Recital, Talent Shows and of course our annual Spring Musical.

Equipment

Since 100% of tuition and fundraising dollars are re-invested in our school and our student resources, Braemar has made significant investments in classroom resources including texbooks and enhanced learning materials. We support our drama and music program with on-going funding of equipment and resources. Parents are not required to purchase any school materials, pay for class trips or make other investments during the year beyond tuition and their child’s school uniform.

Information Technology

Information technology, like most educational resources, is one of many tools in the support of learning. Technology at Braemar is intended to serve students in the achievement of curriculum expectations in all subject areas throughout the day.  Students are encouraged and guided to use technology so as to enrich their experience and improve their learning, and not simply as a 45 minute weekly lesson.  Braemar has permanently mounted Interactive White Boards in Grades 1 to 8, as well as small computer labs set up in each classroom. These allow teachers to integrate information technology instruction effectively within our curriculum. Student use of personal laptops is encouraged and supported by all staff, and is a mandatory component of our Grade 7 and 8 curriculum.

Sandbox

The sandbox was recently added, with funds from our Wishing Tree.  It is used for our youngest students in Motessori.

The Braemar School Food Garden

This was added in 2008 as an ongoing enriched learning opportunity for all students.  The garden was designed and built and is now planted, maintained and harvested by the school community.  It supports curriculum objectives in Science, Social Studies and Healthy Living.  This hands-on experience has been a wonderful addition to our school.

Our Classrooms

At Braemar, we have a total of 10 classrooms, all ranging in layout and style. They are bright and well laid out.  Each one represents the different Grade and teacher’s style.
